The Paragon Best Paper Award 2023

We had great pleasure in sponsoring the Gala dinner at the recent 18th Credit Scoring and Control Conference held in Edinburgh and awarding the Paragon Best Paper Award.  The biannual conference is organized by the Credit Research Centre at the University of Edinburgh and is the world's premier conference for credit scoring and credit risk related topics. The best paper award goes to the best conference paper, judged by an independent industry panel on their relevance and practical application.  As always, the judging was tough with well over 100 sessions covering such topics as Climate risk, Model risk, Affordability and financial vulnerability, AI/ML and deep learning for credit risk, Fairness and transparency, and Open Banking and transactional data.

Stephen Miller from Equifax picked up this year’s award for his paper "A Flexible Machine Learning Approach to Repayment Capacity Estimation for Affordability Assessment" on behalf of the whole Equifax research team of Lewis Jordan, Felipe Avila, Terry Woodford and Matthew Turner.  Congratulations to everyone!

Many of this year's papers can be found here CRC XVIII Programme (eventsair.com) and papers from previous papers here Past conference papers | Credit Research Centre

The next Credit Scoring & Credit Control XIX conference will take place in Edinburgh 27-29 August 2025.  Make a note in your diaries now, we look forward to seeing you there.
